Children’s art on display at Tarble Arts Center in Charleston

The 26th Children’s Art Exhibition is on display at the Tarble Arts Center, Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill., through May 25.
The annual exhibition features two- and three-dimensional art by area students in grades K-12 and provides an opportunity for area art teachers to showcase their programs.
Schools from throughout east-central Illinois are participating in this year’s exhibition.
Schools represented in the show include Crestwood Elementary and Junior High School, Paris; Kansas District No. 3; and Memorial and Carolyn Wenz Elementary Schools, Paris. All area schools with an art curriculum taught by a certified art teacher are invited to participate.
This exhibition is co-sponsored by Consolidated Communications as part of its joint art outreach program with the Tarble Arts Center.
The reception and awards program is organized in cooperation with the Art Teachers of Charleston Community Unit No. 1 Schools. An awards reception is scheduled for 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. May 18.

Tarble Arts Center is on South Ninth Street at Cleveland Avenue on the Eastern Illinois University campus. Open hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The center is closed Mondays. The Tarble Arts Center is funded in part by Tarble Arts Center membership contributions, the Tarble Arts Center Endowment, and by the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
