An opening reception for the exhibit, “Lillian Walter Remembered,” is scheduled 5 to 7 p.m. July 20 in the Swope Art Museum at 25 S. Seventh St.
The exhibit of paintings and drawings by the late Terre Haute artist will be on display through Aug. 31 during regular museum hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Most of the works in the exhibit are from the collection of her son, Carl Walter.
Walter was a longtime member of the Alliance of the Sheldon Swope Art Museum, a patron of the arts as well as an artist.
Walter was known to be enthusiastic about a watercolor drawing she was working on and wanted to share her progress. She also was a participant in the Terre Haute Drawing Co-op and would regularly attend figure drawing classes in Fairbanks Hall on the Indiana State University campus.
