Cold snap has Indiana residents bundling up

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — People across Indiana are bundling up against colder temperatures than parts of the state saw in either of the past two winters.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory covering the northern third of the state for this morning. The forecast calls for wind chills to hit perhaps 25 degrees below zero before temperatures warm during the day.

Dozens of school districts across the state have delayed the start of classes amid the frigid blast.

Temperatures reached zero or below in South Bend and Fort Wayne before dawn today, with Indianapolis and Evansville both in single digits.

The weather service says those temperatures are the coldest central Indiana has had since February 2011.
