Mr. and Mrs. Joe Irwin

Joe and Carol (Newburn) Irwin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT on June 16, 2013, at Armstrong United Methodist Church, 18500 N. Armstrong Road, Marshall, Ill., 3.3 miles from the state line on U.S. 40 West.

Friends and relatives are invited. It is requested that gifts be omitted but cards, a written memory or photo would be appreciated.

The couple was married June 16, 1963, at Bethany United Church of Christ in West Terre Haute by the Rev. Alvin Ricklefs Jr. He is actively involved in farming, and is pastor at Oliver United Methodist Church. She is involved in the church, the home and the community.

Hosts will be the couple’s son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Cheryl Irwin, and their children, Tonya (and Graham) Moore, Andrea (and Darren) Silvers, Tony Vukusich, and Hank (and Amanda) Irwin. They also have six great-grandchildren.

The couple plan an Alaskan cruise this summer with their son and daughter-in-law.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kirk

Oscar and Norma Kirk of Farmersburg will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on June 12.

 The couple have four children, Oscar and wife Reta Kirk, Kristie and husband Brad Harper, Trisha and husband Phil Braasch, and Martin Kirk. They also have 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Patterson

Doris and Harold “Pat” Patterson celebrated the 66th anniversary of their May 28 wedding at home with their children.

The couple met at Hulman & Co., where she worked as a switchboard operator and he was a billing clerk. She retired from Sony and he is a retired building contractor.

The couple have three children, Susan, Barbara and David.
