Mr. and Mrs. Richard Acton of Terre Haute observed their 40th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 12, 2008.
Friends and relatives are invited to a party Saturday, May 3, 2008, in the Zorah Shrine Country Place on Shrine Hill. Those wishing to attend should call Jim Acton at (812) 299-9487.
The Actons were married April 12, 1968, in Terre Haute.
Mrs. Acton, the former Edith Bundy, taught school at Schulte High School and later retired from the Kroger Co.
Acton taught school at Hutsonville High School and later retired from Ivy Hill Packaging Co.
The couple have three children, Debbie Finnerty of Owensville, Jim Acton and wife Terri of Terre Haute, and Angie Owen and husband Danny of Chrisman, Ill. They also have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. George McGuire
Mr. and Mrs. George “Willie” McGuire will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during a reception at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, in the Krietenstein American Legion Post 104.
The McGuires were married April 18, 1958, in Coshocton, Ohio.
Mrs. McGuire is the former Reva Slaughter. McGuire is retired from the Peabody Coal Co.
Hosts will be the couple’s five children, Gail Thompson and husband Greg, Dennie McGuire, Tom McGuire and wife Terri, Cindy Standeford and husband Mark, all of Terre Haute; and Connie Strickland and husband Chuck of Kingsport, Tenn. They also have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
