Former ISU basketball player coached by John Wooden dies in South Bend

Funeral services will be conducted today in South Bend for former Indiana State basketball player Dan Dimich, 82, who died Tuesday.
Dimich was a member of the ISU basketball teams from 1947 to 1950, playing for coaches John Wooden and John Longfellow. He was honored during the school's celebration of 100 years of basketball.
He was a member of the team that won the NAIB national title in 1950 and earned all-tournament honors in Kansas City. He also was a member of the team that lost to Louisville in the championship of the national tournament in 1948.
He was preceded in death by his wife. One of his granddaughters has competed in the Olympic Games in swimming.
Services will be conducted at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North.
